Website
During my end-of-studies internship, I was responsible for designing the interface and user experience of the e-learning platform DataScientist.fr . I applied an end-to-end design process in order to meet the main needs of the public and launch the site successfully.
Our main objectives were:
-
Create a coherent structure between all the spaces of the platform (activities, dashboards, catalog, showcase site)
-
Designing a design system that defines the visual identity of our site
-
Create a modern interface with a pleasant visual design to use
Research stage
Designing the entire platform was a very complex task. At first I had to do a benchmark of existing sites (ex. Pluralsight, Udacity, Datacamp) in order to understand the user experience of an e-learning platform. We decided that this was the best solution because our project is starting from scratch and we needed to be efficient to make a first version of our platform quickly.
Personas
Based on users of other platforms, I created a persona to better understand the behavior of a potential customer towards our product

User flow
I created a user flow to show each step of user interaction needed to achieve the main goal of this application, that's registration to the platform and courses.

Showcase website sitemap
The showcase site makes it possible to direct users towards the formations they wish to follow. This sitemap is a sample of the different pages that it will contain, in order to make our user experience relevant between all the spaces offered.

Design stage
Creation of the design system
I started by creating a design system to define a visual identity for our site but also to create a library of reusable elements that will reduce design production times.

E-learning platform prototype
The design of the platform began with the creation of a mid-fidelity prototype allowing to see the general functioning of this one for the student and the teacher dashboard. I defined the UI elements, the design patterns and the visual hierarchy of the product following the sitemap schema.

Mid-fidelity Prototype
Spaces designed
The following spaces have been designed for the platform:
-
Course activities ( Code activity, video activity, project, quiz and lesson )
-
Student Dashboard
-
Teacher Dashboard ( Analytics dashboard, assessment dashboard and content management )
-
Chat room ( chatbot and chat room )
I defined the final design of the platform after several iterations. Having gone through the previous steps, I was able to establish a coherence between the visual design and the user experience that we wanted to lead. The first results are encouraging , during the first tests, the users found that the design is pleasing to the eye and the navigation is simple and easy, however the platform is awaiting the results during the last phases of tests in order to be able to carry out relevant optimisations.
